Impruneta is known as the location for its industry on the clay. Some findings will testify to the existence of an initial settlement from the sixth century BC. During the Middle Ages Impruneta assumed the leadership of one of the 72 leagues in the Florentine. Later, suffered the attack in Florence with the destruction of the fortress of Montebuoni. In the thirteenth century peasant properties are enlarged and set up farms were organized according to mezzadrie. Immediately after the Middle Ages joined the municipalities of Galluzzo, and then rise to the establishment of the town of Impruneta in 1929.
